Bovingdon Pre-School

How long is each session?
Three hours, from 9am to 12 noon (excluding lunch club at extra cost until 12:.45pm)
Is there a maximum or minimum number of sessions my child can attend?
We like children to attend at least twice a week so that the child can settle easier, however this is only a
suggestion, we also recommend only two sessions to begin with for younger children, this can then be increased
at a later date.
How much does each session cost?
£13.00 per session
Can I get help with payments?
All children are eligible for 15 free hours (38wks per academic year) the term AFTER their third birthday, we have
also joined a pilot scheme for vulnerable two year olds, subject to meeting certain criterias.
Does my child need to be potty trained?
No but we would recommend sending your child in Pull Ups so that we can actively encourage them to do so.
What age does my child have to be to start?
The minimum age is Two Years.
What is the Maximum age?
Usually until your child starts their first term at Nursery, but we can take them until they start school.
Will my child automatically get a place at Bovingdon Primary Academy?
No. We do have close connections with the school however this does not guarantee a place.
Can I provide snacks/lunch for my child?
We provide a healthy snack and drink however if your child has a specific diet or allergies please let us know and
we will try and cater for your childs needs.
Can I stay with my child while they settle?
We ask parents to attend two one hour visits with their child to familiarise both parent and child with the Pre-
School and staff, but we are aware that some children need more help and parents are welcome to stay for as
long as they feel necessary.
Can I visit the Pre-School?
Yes you can just pop in during opening hours, if you would like to speak to our supervisor on your visit please
contact us first and we can arrange for Tracey to be available.
When do I have to book a place for my child?
We operate a waiting list on a first come first served basis dependent on date of birth, we would advise placing
your child’s name on our waiting list as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. You can register by clicking on
the Waiting list link on the left hand side of this page.
Can I change sessions?
Session changes can be arranged with adequate notice providing spaces are available.
My child has physical difficulties can he/she still attend?
Children with special needs, like all other children, are admitted to the Pre-School after consultation between
parents, and the Pre-School Supervisor. We have appointed a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-
Ordinator) who is responsible for any educational needs a specific child may have. We offer an equal
oppurtunuties policy which means access for all.
How will I know how my child is doing?
We operate a keyperson system where your child has one special adult to relate to, all staff are available to
speak to at each session, and we would encourage parents to meet with us periodically to discuss your child’s
development.
What clothing do I have to buy/provide?
We have a Pre-School T-Shirt which is included in your child’s welcome pack although your child does not have
to wear this, it is optional, extras can also be purchased.
My child has a comforter can he/she bring this to Pre-School?
We are happy for children to bring comforters into the Pre-School although we will encourage your child to leave
this in a special place so that it doesn’t get lost or broken.
My child needs medication how can you help?
As both our Supervisor and Deputy Supervisor hold First Aid Certificates they are happy to administer medication
with prior written consent in certain circumstances, please see our First Aid and Medication Policy.
